Orlando's championship dreams have taken a major blow.
2/6 Roster Highlights By: 2K Insider | Thursday February 05 2009 Latest News - The injury bug was on the loose this week, affecting several players and their team's chances of winning a championship. Andrew Bynum is out with another knee injury, but this time is estimated to miss 8 to 12 weeks and could return for the playoffs. He suffered a tear in his MCL after Kobe fell into his leg on a hard drive to the hoop. Bynum has downplayed the injury so far, saying that it's not nearly as bad as his season ending knee injury last year. No surgery is required and he is walking without crutches which is good news. Jameer Nelson dislocated his right shoulder going for a rebound vs Dallas. Jameer will eventually need surgery to repair his shoulder, but it is unclear if he can wait until the offseason to do so. As a result, the Magic have traded seldom used shooting guard Keith Bogans for Tyronn Lue. The Bucks are thin at shooting guard with Michael Redd out for the year, so Bogans will add a defensive presence with spot up 3 point shooting. The 76ers have decided to shut down Elton Brand to begin the long rehab process for his shoulder. Chris Paul strained his groin in a loss to Portland earlier this week. CP3 was in a lot of pain on the court, but reports are that it was not severe and he is listed as day to day. Andrew Bogut is out again with a lingering lower back injury. It is being listed as a stress fracture in his back and will miss at least 8 weeks. I would not be surprised if they shut him down for the season to ensure that he's 100% healthy in October. Andrei Kirilenko opted for surgery on his bothersome ankle and will miss roughly a month, if not more. Doctors had to remove bone fragments in the joint and so it's unclear exactly when AK will be healthy enough to play again. The Thunder's Desmond Mason will miss the remainder of the season with a hyperextended knee that required surgery. This has opened the door for rookie Kyle Weaver who is now in the starting lineup. David West has returned to the Hornets lineup after missing 5 games with back spasms. Recall that West suffered from the same problem during the 2008 playoffs which limited his play. Carmelo Anthony missed 10 games with a broken hand, but is playing for the Nuggets once again. Unfortunately for him, the injury probably cost him a spot on the Western Conference All-Stars. Zach Randolph was out for 19 games due to a sore knee, but returned vs the Heat and posted 21 points in 26 minutes. Despite the Clippers getting 3 starters back, they are still a hot mess.
Biggest Movers - Luol Deng had a rough start to the season, but has regained his form after missing 11 games with injury and struggling to find his rhythm. In January he averaged 17.5 ppg, 8.5 rpg, 1.7 spg on .503 FG% which is impressive for a jumpshooter. Kevin Love has upped his level of play in the last month and been extremely productive coming off the Minnesota bench in limited minutes. I can understand McHale wanting to bring the rookie along slowly but he looks ready for a starting role and increased minutes. Speaking of a rookie who has earned a starting spot is Jason Thompson of Sacramento. J.T. has been solid, if not impressive, despite the Kings having a bad season. He and Spencer Hawes form a talented young duo of bigs that should lead the rebuilding movement in Sacramento. Jermaine O'Neal is already getting booed in Toronto because of his lingering injuries, uninspired play and hefty salary. Of course, just when I downgrade him he turns in a career best 9 block performance vs the Lakers. You have to wonder if Baron Davis is regretting his decision to leave the Warriors and join the Clippers. Despite going home to his native So Cal, not much has gone right for Diddy or his team this season. In 35 games, Baron is shooting a dismal 0.354 FG% and 0.293 3P%. Monta Ellis has looked spry in his return, but his shooting is way off. Last season he shot an efficient 0.531 FG% but is down to 0.348 FG% in 7 games so far.
2009 All-Star - Note that the 2009 All-Star uniforms are available by default starting with the 1/22 update. However, if you are using an older version of the roster you can unlock them with this code: llaveyfonus
Some might find it silly, but i like this part I'm gonna ask about:
So the highlights in this blog? Who are the biggest movers?
It's gonna happen today or tomorrow?
Mr. Insider, I'm not really complaning but just out of curiosity how come you guys haven't put sneakers on the guys in the game for instance that have nike, jordan and adidas contracts. Will this issue be corrected in 2K10?
QUOTE: seanboogie1 "2K YOU SHOULD HAVE WAITED TO DO THE UPDATE MOVE TRADES AND SIGNINGS TO COME" -------------------------------------------------------- Let 2K do as many updates as possible, that is what this was created for....We should get updates as fast as transactions, adjustments, and other things happen in the NBA....So just relax and see how things go first....The deadline next week may bring plenty of action...Maybe so much that we may need 2-3 updates in one week...
Caron Butler has struggled out the gate averaging 16.8 ppg on 0.397 FG% over 8 games. Perhaps he won't struggle as much when Antawn Jamison finally returns to the lineup.

Sacramento Kings - Tyreke Evans
Tyreke Evans has flourished since Kevin Martin went down with injury, averaging 23.0 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 5.0 apg and 1.4 spg. His confidence is sky high right now which bodes well for his eventual return to running point for the Kings.

Milwaukee Bucks - Brandon Jennings
Brandon Jennings lit up the Warriors for 55 points Saturday night in a performance that had everyone talking. The Bucks finally got it right and looks to have gotten the steal of the draft this year.

The bright spot for the Clippers has been Chris Kaman's improved offense of 21.8 ppg on 0.543 FG%. The NBA recently recognized him by naming Kaman the Western Conference Player of the Week.

Los Angeles Lakers - Andrew Bynum
Andrew Bynum is holding it down in the middle for the Lakers with 20.3 ppg, 11.8 rpg and 1.8 bpg averages. It's nice to finally see the young big man healthy and productive after some unfortunate injuries in recent years.

New York Knicks - Toney Douglas
Toney Douglas has provided the Knicks with bench scoring over the last few games. No doubt Mike D'Antoni is frustrated with Chris Duhon's lack of scoring this year.

Chicago Bulls - Joakim Noah
Joakim Noah is averaging 12.1 ppg, 12.4 rpg and 2.0 bpg and providing a presence in the paint. This is exactly what the Bulls were hoping for when they made him their 2007 lottery pick.

Second year center, Roy Hibbert, has improved significantly by averaging 12.6 ppg, 9.1 rpg and 2.5 bpg. He looks to be in better shape and understands his role better this time around.

Samuel Dalembert's production has taken a dip with averages of 6.2 ppg and 6.8 rpg. Now that Marresse Speights is out for extended time, the Sixers need Sammy D to step it up.

Chris Duhon can't hit the side of a barn, averaging 6.5 ppg on 0.228 FG%. This has allowed Toney Douglas to get significant run in recent games.
