1/16 Roster Highlights By: 2K Insider | Friday January 16 2009 New Animations - In recognition of his recent play, Andre Iguodala has a new dunk package. It's nice to see A.I. return to playing at a high level.
Latest News - Delonte West will miss 2 to 3 weeks due to a fractured wrist, suffered in a hard fall trying to block a Derrick Rose drive. Delonte also hit his head hard on the court, requiring stitches to close the gash. Daniel Gibson figures to get the biggest boost in playing time while West recovers. Steve Blake separated his shoulder and will miss about 7 to 10 days, so Sergio Rodriguez gets the start. This also opens the door for rookie Jerryd Bayless to get some court time. The Rockets are without two of their "Big 3" as both Ron Artest and Tracy McGrady watch from the bench. Artest's troublesome ankle will keep him out a total of 7 to 10 days while McGrady was shut down for 2 weeks to allow his surgically repaired knee to rest. The Wizards suffered another loss to injury as center Etan Thomas tore his MCL and is out for a while. He joins Brendan Haywood, DeShawn Stevenson and Gilbert Arenas on the sideline. Marco Belinelli was starting until he sprained his ankle and will be out at least 10 days. MRI results showed that D.J. Augustin has a strained abdomen and groin, which will cause him to miss 10 days or more. Carlos Boozer had arthroscopic knee surgery and will miss an additional month. The good news for the Jazz is that Paul Millsap has played well and Boozer didn't require microfracture surgery. Yi Jianlian broke a finger in his shooting hand and will be out 4 to 6 weeks. It's especially unfortunate for him because he was playing well up until that point. Al Horford injured his knee a week ago, but his return doesn't sound too far away. On the flip side, both Kirk Hinrich and Luol Deng returned to the Bulls' lineup earlier this week. Rip Hamilton had missed 8 games with an injured groin, but he's back playing regular minutes. His shot has been off all season, as he continues to adjust to life without Chauncey.
Biggest Movers - Randy Foye is flourishing under Kevin McHale, who moved him to his natural position of shooting guard. His confidence is the highest it's been since joining the NBA and it shows. Foye's success mirrors that of the T'Wolves as they are 5-1 through the first 6 games of January. Another player who is playing well this month is Andrea Bargnani. Since Jermaine O'Neal was sidelined on New Year's Eve with a bum knee, Bargs has been playing the best basketball of his NBA career. Over the stretch of 9 games, he has averaged 22.3 points and 7.1 rebounds. Funny how the Bargnani trade rumors have magically disappeared. Von Wafer is another player who has seized his opportunity due to injury. Now starting in Tracy McGrady's place, Von has provided a much needed scoring punch as well as 3pt shooting. He has finally found a home in Houston after stints with the Lakers, Clippers, Nuggets and Blazers. Another developing shooting guard who has shown he belongs in the NBA is Nick Young. With DeShawn Stevenson sidelined with a bad back, Young has displayed his scoring prowess in his last 4 games, averaging 25.8 points on 0.717 FG%. That's lights out shooting for anyone, much less a 2nd year guard. Andre Iguodala is his old self again after a poor start to the season. New coach, Tony DiLeo, has moved Iggy back to his small forward spot and has responded with numbers we're used to from him. With Elton Brand still out with a bad shoulder, A.I. has been a force all over the court. Mehmet Okur's numbers are up compared to last season's downturn. On the year, he is back up to 17.8 ppg, 8.5 rpg and 0.499 FG%.
Hey 2K insider could you and your staff update the coaches profile tendencies so that teams reflect and play like the teams are currently playing in the league. For example Phoenix don't really fast break as much anymore this year, but in there coach profile its set high? All of the teams need to be evaluated and updated. Just about all of the teams inside scoring tendencies need to be lowered and a few teams midrange shooting tendencies need a boost. Also everyteams game tempo, zone usage, run plays, attack the basket coach tendencies need a update. I know that you probably didn't implement this in this roster update, me and others are hoping you can implement this in the next one. Also def pressure and help defense is too high for alot of teams making it easy to pass and score in the paint, in the NBA teams give shooters more space so that they won't get beat off the dribble or score easy inside. Please evaluate some NBA temas shot charts and teams stats and tendencies and implement this into the coaches team profiles, thanks 2Kinsider.
let me first start by saying, great job on the updates insider..... my only complaint is tony parker's freethrow rating is still way to low at 71 even though he's shooting 80% from the line....i know you will agree... and 2nd roger mason is still lower in 3pt rating than jason richardson??? why is that??? even still, thank you for hearin our voices... great job you made a hugh stride on this update, but for future reference.... keep on eye on the mason issue and parker's freethrow rating! thanks
Caron Butler has struggled out the gate averaging 16.8 ppg on 0.397 FG% over 8 games. Perhaps he won't struggle as much when Antawn Jamison finally returns to the lineup.

Sacramento Kings - Tyreke Evans
Tyreke Evans has flourished since Kevin Martin went down with injury, averaging 23.0 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 5.0 apg and 1.4 spg. His confidence is sky high right now which bodes well for his eventual return to running point for the Kings.

Milwaukee Bucks - Brandon Jennings
Brandon Jennings lit up the Warriors for 55 points Saturday night in a performance that had everyone talking. The Bucks finally got it right and looks to have gotten the steal of the draft this year.

Los Angeles Clippers - Chris Kaman
The bright spot for the Clippers has been Chris Kaman's improved offense of 21.8 ppg on 0.543 FG%. The NBA recently recognized him by naming Kaman the Western Conference Player of the Week.

Los Angeles Lakers - Andrew Bynum
Andrew Bynum is holding it down in the middle for the Lakers with 20.3 ppg, 11.8 rpg and 1.8 bpg averages. It's nice to finally see the young big man healthy and productive after some unfortunate injuries in recent years.

New York Knicks - Toney Douglas
Toney Douglas has provided the Knicks with bench scoring over the last few games. No doubt Mike D'Antoni is frustrated with Chris Duhon's lack of scoring this year.

Chicago Bulls - Joakim Noah
Joakim Noah is averaging 12.1 ppg, 12.4 rpg and 2.0 bpg and providing a presence in the paint. This is exactly what the Bulls were hoping for when they made him their 2007 lottery pick.

Indiana Pacers - Roy Hibbert
Second year center, Roy Hibbert, has improved significantly by averaging 12.6 ppg, 9.1 rpg and 2.5 bpg. He looks to be in better shape and understands his role better this time around.

Philadelphia 76ers - Samuel Dalembert
Samuel Dalembert's production has taken a dip with averages of 6.2 ppg and 6.8 rpg. Now that Marresse Speights is out for extended time, the Sixers need Sammy D to step it up.

New York Knicks - Chris Duhon
Chris Duhon can't hit the side of a barn, averaging 6.5 ppg on 0.228 FG%. This has allowed Toney Douglas to get significant run in recent games.

Raja Bell immediately opted for surgery to repair his fractured wrist, thus ending his season. His top priority is to get healthy for free agency rather than play for the lowly Warriors.
Orlando Magic - Rashard Lewis
Rashard Lewis has finished serving his 10 game suspension and is starting at power forward again. It should take him a couple weeks to work off the rust and get back into game shape.
Philadelphia 76ers - Marreese Speights
Marresse Speights strained the MCL in his left knee and is out 6 to 8 weeks. He had been providing a nice scoring punch off the bench this season.
Portland Blazers - Travis Outlaw
High flyer Travis Outlaw has a stress fracture in his left foot and will miss 3 to 5 months. Rudy Fernandez and Martell Webster are more than capable of picking up the slack.
Memphis Grizzlies - Jamaal Tinsley
