10/29 Roster Highlights By: 2K Insider | Friday October 30 2009 Latest News – Since this is the first Living Roster that reflects injuries and the rotations as a result of coaches shuffling their lineups, we will focus on who is out to start the season. Probably the biggest injury news broke just prior to opening day and it involves the first overall pick of the 2009 NBA Draft. Blake Griffin originally hurt his knee in a preseason game vs the Hornets. What was thought to be a bone bruise turned out to be a stress fracture in his left kneecap, which will force him to miss about 6 weeks. Ironically, chronically injured Marcus Camby is healthy and steps into the starting lineup for now.
Josh Howard is still recovering from ankle and wrist surgery, but is hopeful he can return for the Mavs in a few weeks despite being listed as “out indefinitely”. The Wizards were primed for a comeback season but their bad luck resurfaced when it was learned that Antawn Jamison’s shoulder will cause him to miss 3 to 5 weeks. They still managed an opening day road victory in Dallas which is very encouraging for their fans.
The Utah Jazz are without forwards C.J. Miles (torn ligament in thumb) and Kyle Korver (bone spurs in knee) for an extended time and are listed as “out indefinitely”. Miles now wears a cast and Kyle Korver recently underwent arthroscopic knee surgery to remove the bone spurs. Andrei Kirilenko should play heavy minutes at the small forward slot until his teammates return.
Defensive specialist, Raja Bell, has a torn ligament in his wrist and is contemplating surgery. There’s talk that he may try to play through the pain and return in a week or so. If he opts for surgery, he could miss anywhere between 4 weeks to 4 months. In the meantime, new addition Stephen Graham is starting in the Charlotte backcourt with rookie Gerald Henderson coming off the bench.
Minnesota’s Kevin Love had surgery on his broken hand and is thought to be out 6 to 8 weeks. Corey Brewer and Al Jefferson are back for the Timberwolves after missing significant time last season. Therefore Ryan Gomes will slide over to the power forward slot until Love returns to the court.
Portland’s Nicolas Batum has a torn labrum and will have surgery on his shoulder, forcing him out for 3 to 5 months. Martell Webster, who missed all of the 2008-09 season, regains his starter status on a deep Blazer squad.
Of course, injuries are not the only reasons why some guys are out for their respective teams. Glen Davis, fresh off a new contract, has been suspended indefinitely by the Celtics for an off-the-court incident in which he broke his thumb. Big Baby had a strong playoff run last spring, but he’s had his fair share of negative press for various bouts with immaturity. Fortunately for Boston, Rasheed Wallace is more than capable of filling the void off the bench.
Another head-case making headlines in the NBA is Cleveland’s Delonte West. Said to suffer from a bipolar mental disorder, West was arrested in September for carrying three loaded guns on his motorcycle, missed a couple practices with no excuse, and most recently was involved in a domestic violence report filed by his wife. There’s no current timetable for his return to the court, so in the meantime Anthony Parker gets the start at shooting guard.
Miami Heat. Udonis Haslem has way too low rebounding ratings. He is averaging a double double. He is only 6'8 and grabs a ton of boards and the game does him no justice. His hustle should be in the 90's. D. Cook should have at least an (88) 3 point rating, I mean C'mon he won the 3 point contest all-start weekend. Q-Rich and J. O'Neal also need rebound rating boosts.
I agree with weszzy re, I like the idea of the living roster. people need to learn to play basketball and utilize the team just the coaches do in real life. Relying on a certain player to win a game display your skill as a player. Insider I think its great that the roster is alive and reflects real life events instead of just a name with no real effects. Good Job and I hope players realize that teamwork and every player playing to ther potential wins game not just 1 or 2 superstars. Ex. Cleveland Cavs this year enough said.........
Im not talking about online play, im talking about offline, we should have access to whatever player we want when playing offline.
So Insider, is what we see in this update the final verdict on Carlos Arroyo? Will he look like this permanently or will you guys at some point fix the actual Carlos Arroyo? I was able to fix his arm complexion on the PC version of this game. The arms are apparently connected to the face file or .iff file of Carlos Arroyo and thus a change to the .iff file itself is necessary to fix the issue of his black arms. Im sure you all know what the problem is and how to fix it if I and other modders are able to do it on the PC. Is the problem due to the fact the graphic files are on the DVD? Even so, it seems that a patch would be able to override these errors. I see that Daniel Green is still messed up too. Are you guys exploring how to fix this isuue in case more players you add have the same issue other than just making created players?
Shannon Brown also went 3-4 vs. the Hornets and is 6-10 on the season. This kid comes in and is a J.R. Smith type of player, he can jump out of the building and shoot the 3 with great accuracy. SY, he needs a 3 pt boost please respond your opinion.
shannon brown dont need a boost when ur on aroll with lakers these scrubs abilities go up as well they will hit a higher percentage of shots if anything lower fisher and artest 3pt fg... ps.... Im a huge shannon brown fan hes good but a scrub compared to kobe and jr smith.
Shannon Brown does need a boost in 3 pt every time he comes in he makes a J.R. Smith type impact dude. He went 3-4 threes and had 15 points in 20 minutes. His minutes in the rotaion should be raised in the game and his 3 pt shoot get boosted he's 6-10 on the season and he'll keep shooting like that with the players on his team helping him. Also he is not a scrub he comes in the first half and plays a decent amount of minutes to make an impact.
Caron Butler has struggled out the gate averaging 16.8 ppg on 0.397 FG% over 8 games. Perhaps he won't struggle as much when Antawn Jamison finally returns to the lineup.

New York Knicks - Toney Douglas
Toney Douglas has provided the Knicks with bench scoring over the last few games. No doubt Mike D'Antoni is frustrated with Chris Duhon's lack of scoring this year.
