Overrated By: 2K Insider | Wednesday November 19 2008 As some of you have noted, there have been a lot of requests for players to be bumped up but not enough cases made for guys to get knocked down. Therefore I'm dedicating this posting to players who you feel are the most overrated in the current 2K9 roster. In no particular order, the candidates who are on the bubble are:
Steve Nash - First let me say that Nash has been one of the best stories in the NBA in recent years. This unlikely hero won back to back league MVP's, proving that team play prevails over the me first attitude that has dominated the NBA. He gave hope to all the young basketball players out there who aren't the fastest, tallest or most talented on their teams. That said, Nash's numbers are down this season after a strong run since joining the Suns in 2004. His assists are down from 11.1 to 7.5 per game and he's scoring about 3.2 ppg less as well. He's shooting under .500 FG% for the first time since 2003-04, his last year in Dallas. Add the coaching change from D'Antoni to Porter and I don't really see Nash's decline as temporary.
Elton Brand - There was a time when you could guarantee Elton Brand would average 20 and 10 for the season. I didn't understand it then and still don't understand it now why the Bulls traded him after his second season so they could draft Eddy Curry and Tyson Chandler. After sitting out most of 2007-08 due to injury, E.B. has a new home in Philly. The city was energized after they signed him as a free agent, but their dreams have fallen short so far. Brand is only averaging 15.5 ppg on 0.440 FG%. Not so good for a career 0.504 FG% low post scorer.
Tracy McGrady - We all know the rap on T-Mac. When healthy he's an all-around talent capable of doing almost anything on the court. The problem is, when is he ever healthy? Prior to his latest knee injury, he was under performing compared to last season. Scoring is down from 21.6 ppg to 15.9 ppg and, if you watched him play this year, you could just see he was struggling to be out there. Sure, he showed flashes of brilliance here and there, but overall you could tell he was hurting. So when he went down Monday night after tweaking his knee, no one was surprised.
Shawn Marion - This former All-Star and Olympian has struggled without Steve Nash to spoon feed him or D'Antoni's anything goes offense. In 9 games this year, The Matrix is averaging a paltry 10.4 ppg on 0.443 FG%. Yuck! I don't really see this trend improving that much on this Heat team. Marion cannot create his own shot and without a top tier point guard to set him up, this is what you get.
Jason Kidd - Many of you have called for his ratings to go down. I know he's not the same player he used to be, but he's still putting up solid numbers - 8.4 apg / 6.9 rpg / 2.6 spg / 0.372 3P% through 11 games. There aren't many point guards who are putting up those kinds of stats. So if you still think Kidd is overrated, tell me specifically which attributes are too high.
So there you have 5 players who are candidates to get their ratings knocked down. Tell me who you think should get the same treatment.
im having an argument bout these pics..... for instance sun yue... they tryn to say u photo shopped tony parker & you ming together..... so do u guys photo shop or substitute for a pic thats similar to the character
Hey insider could you put matt harpring on the jazz back in the rotation, cj miles and ak 47 have been playing really good lately, could you give them a boost. also on carlos boozer his team band on his arm could you make that a small band rather than a large band?
also y in 2k9 do they miss so many easy shots or layups like com on there in the nba i mean if they have a 3 symbol they should be able to knock down 2 or 3 threes a game
I forgot to mention Drew Gooden, his post game in 2k9 is terrible, he needs to have some kind of post game he sometimes just takes over games for the bulls and dominates the post 1on1, he should have improved post moves in the paint.
You guys got an update within 12 hours after the Knicks trading frenzy. The following week was shortened because of Thanksgiving and I didn't have the support to release another update. Today's the first day back and we are working on the next Living Roster. Hang in there and have faith.
Yeah i agree these "living" rosters just dont seem very lively..... Im not sure about today, but the bulls roster is still not correct, larry hughes is back and active, and derrick rose's shooting still seems too low he is avging a little over 18 points a game, but more importantly Larry Hughes should be on the team and playable, he hasnt been injured for over a week why is it taking so long to add him back onto the team?
Hey Insider! Lets please do something about the lakers overall rating! The bench players are killing all the other teams. Kobe isn't even playing in the 4th quarter and neither is the rest of the starters. The Lakers are the best team in the league! Give em some love! Oh by the way, are you in jail? We haven't gotten an update in a minute. You didn't shoot yourself in the leg did you? lol
ive got to agree with Genuine 1x im tired of playing the lakers and ppl change y and b to spin and crossover ..lebron and kobe arent that good three point shooters both chillin around 30% ..living rosters hasnt been updated in like 3 weeks. i guess you were incarcerated or something.
I hope you had a nice thanksgiving Insider. What day and what time can we expect the next roster update? Are you going to add Rob Kurz for the Warriors?
The other night he got some playing time against the Caviliers.
Thanks
Roger Mason has been forced to play heavy minutes with the injuries to Ginobili and Parker. Mason is showing what he can do with the Spurs relying on him big time.

Los Angeles Clippers - Zach Randolph
Zach was playing well in the new Knicks offense, averaging 20.5 ppg and 12.5 rpg. The Clippers have a deep frontline with Kaman, Camby and Thornton in the mix.
Los Angeles Clippers - Mardy Collins
The inclusion of Collins was necessary to complete the trade with the Clippers. Mardy Collins joins a crowded Clippers backcourt.
New York Knicks - Cuttino Mobley
Mobley was packaged with Tim Thomas in exchange for Zach Randolph and Mardy Collins. This was strictly a cap clearing trade by the Knicks.
New York Knicks - Tim Thomas
Tim Thomas returns to the team he last played for in 2004-05. The move allows the Knicks to make a serious run at LeBron in summer 2010.
Golden State Warriors - Jamal Crawford
Crawford goes from one free wheeling offense to another. He should get the starting point guard duties until Monta Ellis returns from injury.
New York Knicks - Al Harrington
Harrington finally got his wish and was traded from the Warriors. He's reunited with Donnie Walsh and should excel in D'Antoni's offense.
